Under the leadership of the North Texas Food Bank (NTFB) Indian American Council, the DFW Indian-American community has enabled more than 3.5 million meals in just 18 months for the more than 800,000 people in North Texas who don't always know where their next meal will come from.

The Hunger Mitao Week campaign is held yearly to commemorate India’s Independence Day, August 15, as an “Independence from Hunger” day in North Texas. Our collective efforts will have meaningful impact in our community as we help stock the shelves of local food pantries or fill a child’s backpack for another day.

This summer the Indian American Council aims to collect 25,000 pounds of peanut butter for the NTFB from now until August 31, 2019. It is a very popular shelf stable, protein-rich food, always in short supply at food banks.
